Brittany Mayes, LPC-C
Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate
Hi, I’m Brittany! Some things that might be helpful to know about me:
I love connecting with others. I value authenticity. I’m curious about people and the world around me. I love being in nature and hiking with my golden retriever.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) with a J.D. and M.Ed. in Clinical Professional Counseling from the University of Oklahoma. I currently work at the University of Oklahoma College of Law overseeing student wellness, and I see individual clients through Humanity: Therapy + Wellness.
I have had the privilege of working with many high-achieving individuals in college, graduate, or professional programs, and demanding fields like law, medicine, and helping professions. Many of these clients bravely grapple with issues such as self-criticism, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, maintaining healthy boundaries, anxiety, and depression.
I have also had the privilege of working with many clients through the complexities of grief and loss, whether stemming from the death of a loved one or a cherished pet, or from significant life changes such as job transitions, relationship shifts, or unfulfilled dreams.
Additionally, I work well with clients who wish to explore, examine, or reexamine their personal values, identity, or religious/spiritual beliefs.
My approach to therapy has been shaped by my own experiences in therapy, as well as by authors, researchers, and therapists including Brene Brown, Daniel Siegel, Bessel van der Kolk, Kristin Neff, Nedra Glover Tawwab, Gabor Mate, Galit Atlas, and many others.
